Wembley To Host Euro 2020 Final, Semifinals

Sep 19, 2014 4:39 PM

Wembley has been confirmed as the venue for the semifinals and final of the 2020 European Championship, which will be staged across Europe rather than in one country to mark the 60th anniversary of the first European Championships.

UEFA's executive committee confirmed that the London stadium was the only venue left in the bidding for the showpiece matches after the German FA (DFB) stood aside reportedly in return for England's support for a bid to host Euro 2024.

Allianz Arena, Munich (Germany), Stadio Olimpico, Rome (Italy), New Zenit Stadium, Saint Petersburg (Russia) and Olimpiya Stadionu, Baku (Azerbaijan) will each host three group stage games and a quarterfinal.

Amsterdam ArenA, Amsterdam (Netherlands), San Mames, Bilbao (Spain), a new national stadium in Brussels (Belgium), Arena Nationala, Bucharest (Romania), Uj Puskas Ferenc Stadion, Budapest (Hungary), Parken Stadion, Copenhagen (Denmark), Aviva Stadium, Dublin (Republic of Ireland) and Hampden Park, Glasgow (Scotland) will each host three group stage games and a round-of-16 match.

The playmaker watched Italy's 2-0 friendly win over Netherlands on Thursday and was impressed with the bright interplay and attacking verve showed by Conte's men.

"I have given my ok with regards to the national side.

"I liked the look of the team [against Netherlands]. You can already see the work of the tactician."

David Silva Believes Spain Shouldn't Change Style

Sep 6, 2014 1:54 PM

David Silva believes Spain needs to change personnel rather than adjust their entire style of play.

“Our success is based on having possession of the ball and that’s how we’ll carry on. With this style Spain has won two European Championships and a World Cup. I don’t feel there’s any need to change it," said Silva.

“There are some of us here, like Cesc, Iniesta and Cazorla, amongst others, who know what this national team has achieved playing the way we do. The new players will adapt, will improve with possession and the precision of their passing.

“There’s a lot of new people in the squad and we’re still putting all the pieces together, but that’s the way forward for us now. There’s some very important players who are no longer with us, but those of us who are here now are important and those who are coming in are too.”
